Tokyo: thoughts in Japan

By Derek and Steph

derek: today is warm. i enjoy much japan of. i lose english.

today we are going to go to tokyo. fumi is going to meet up with us hopefully. i bought this hat that only 3rd graders are supposed to wear and i am wearing it everywhere. everyone is looking at me really strangely. this morning i made french toast for my family. we ate it with japanese gum syrup. they loved french toast. i'm on a train right now and it is super packed. our huge backpacks really dont help. i dont want to write anymore. tokyo!!!!!!!!!!!!

SAYONARA,
DEREK

steph: first thing i learned is that asking for water is very strange. never ask for water, always juice or something. my first host family has two very little girls, and they are very cute. it is good in the morning because they watch very simple cartoons and learning shows, so i can understand most of it. already i think i can catch more japanese that i could before.

the high school yesterday was so fun. one of the girls i was paired with plays trombone, and when i said i do too, she got so excited. when i said i've played for 8 years, she just about died. so, the whole group insisted that i play for them. i played some of our pep songs with maria on clarinet and lauren on vocals. thats it for now!
