Meiji Shrine in Tokyo |
By Eric, Maria and Kathryn
Eric here. Today...I woke up to see a dead body in the bunk next to mine. I didn't know it at the time, but the stench quickly came to me...no. I'm kidding. A guy won't wake up and the guys are all wondering if he's dead. He's just sleeping soundly. Wait...he's up! He's walking! Alright! Well, other than that everything's weird. For breakfast they put a single, small bowl of rice in the middle of the cafeteria and let nature take over. I won. How do you think I'm typing this? Right now me and some of the non breakfast participants are discussing with Zurn sensei which of us won't come back due to survival reasons. Well...now we're all packing up and going to the Meiji shrine. Later...maybe.
hi everyone! Maria here. I want to move into one of these youth hostels. The only drawback is the whole showering together thing. There were unexpected stalls, so it wasn't bad at all. Breakfast was pretty good, and the rooms were great. We had bunkbeds! Every room also had an air conditioner and a great view of Tokyo. The bathrooms had these great signs that said "Do not wash clothes or hair in toilet," which we laughed about for a while. Later, they covered "toilet" over with "basin," but we know the truth! Well, we're off. TTFN! P.S.-The Sears phone cards don't work.
Well this is Kathryn now. Today has been fun. First we visited [Meiji shrine] and it was really pretty. I am in awe when I see them, they are unbelievable. Then we went to a busy part of Tokyo [Shibuya] and shopped, most people bought hanko (personal stamp}. Since everything is so close together it is hard to get around. I got a watch, shoes, and a purse. It is so hard to carry everything... I need to stop shopping. haha. Now we are off to a highschool and we will meet our new host families. Everyone will have someone in their host family that goes to that school. I am really nervous, but I am sure it will be fun!
