Japan was absolutly amazing. I'll never forget the first night though. All of my stuff was soaked from the airline, and I was so tired. I was in a bad mood and I kept thinking over and over again "why am I even here?" But, it wasnt long before I had a great time.
Transportation was so different. Getting into the car with my host families driving terrified me. I could never drive in Japan. The streets were so
tiny! The cars were smaller than ours, yes, but driving within inches of a
brick wall still is scary! Took me a while to not cringe when they made a
left turn though (in Japan they drive opposite the way we do). I'll also
never forget how I felt like I was in a zoo.
In the high schools we went to, if you turned your back to a doorway for a few minutes and turned around, you'd find half a dozen Japanese school girls giggle and scatter. Once I was on my own to find Eri, I managed to get lost in Kyoto which wasn't much fun, since no one helped me. So, I will always know exactly
where I have to go from now on. Or just have a really reliable map. Oh!
Grocery stores are so much fun! (just dont try to poke anything or the
families/Eri will look at you weird or yell at you). Fruit was insanely
expensive there, too. Some day I hope to go back to Japan and study abroad. It was quite an adventure!
