The two weeks I spent in Japan were perhaps the most exciting, interesting, and informative in my life. Crossing cultural barriers in friendship is an extremely enriching experience. The new foods and customs were difficult to grasp at first, but soon we felt right at home, and settled into new routines.

Whether we were touring shrines and temples, shopping, or simply taking a train, there was alwayssomething to learn. The best sources of information were of course the Japanese people we met. Everyone showed us kindness far beyond anything we could have imagined, and the things they taught us about their culture amazed me. I hope to study in Japan for a year during college, and I plan to major in Japanese studies. I can't wait to return to the land of the rising sun!
