katie- my yokohama host family was so americanized! we mainly ate western food, and they didn't do the whole slippers thing at all, which really surprised me. They were also very good at speaking English, so I didn't have to speak Japanese at all. They seemed very interested in Eau Claire, so that was a good groundbreaker for us. today, I left Yokohama for Osaka and Kyoto, and I'm actually typing this while on the bullet train. Jake told me it goes about 150 mi/hr... sweeeet.
Tuura- I went to a big shrine and washed my hands again. I got a sweet mask and a doorway-curtain thing. I went bumming around with my host family in and around yamashita park. Shrines are similar to sleeping parks, you should be quiet, and sometimes weddings are held there.
Allison says she's very tired. Yokohama was okay. She found that Japanese cities have many malls with lots of levels. Yokohama has at least three. She saw very old warehouses called "The Red Bricks of Yokohama" High school was big. the students there are very smart. Allison needs to study more. They were all suprised that she can use chopsticks with left hand. So the stay in Yokohama was enjoyable. Visited China town with her host family. Ate at a Chinese resteraunt that had a turnabout on top of the table so the food could be shared with entire family. Today, Sunday, we get on Shinkansen. Big train that moves very fast.
