Stories of Yokohama hostfamily weekend

By Mac and Evan

Here's our journal for our time with Yokohama host families.

Mac Burns: this weekend me and my host sister, father and mother went to Yokohama bay.First we rode a boat across the bay to the bay side. there we walked through a park with statues, one was a present from San Diego to Yokohama and another, my host sister's favorite, was a girl with red shoes that commemorated a Japanese children's song. after we went to china-town for lunch and then to the Red Brick Shed, an old warehouse turned shopping center. It was a sweet weekend.

Evan Green: My host family was very nice. They took me to an amusement park in Yokohama. You did not have to pay to get in so it felt more like a carnival with two big roller coasters and one giant ferris wheel. We went on the ferris wheel and got to see most of Yokohama from it.

On Saturday they took me to a lot of shrines. I got to go to the money washing shrine and i washed 5 yen. That night we went to a conveyor-belt [kaiten] sushi place, it was very good. sunday morning I got to play tennis with my host brother, his dad, and his younger brother. It was weird playing on the courts in japan because their courts have sand all over them. My host family was very nice and I had a really good time with them.
