Meditation, and Libby's Train navigation experience

By Nathan and Libby

Nathan:

The meditation was interesting and relaxing. The temple had been subject to Chinese influence in the past, and the architecture was slightly different than the other temples we have visited. I am glad I saw it. During meditation, this monk walked around and whacked us on the back with a stick [if you asked him to]. As an afterthought, it was kinda funny.

Libby:

This morning was a train fiasco. Let me explain - as my host mom explained to me, I was supposed to change trains twice. The only problem? I couldn't find my last train at Osaka station. After looking around for a while, I ended up taking another train bound for Kyoto: actually, it wasn't going all the way to Kyoto. So I got off, took a train back to Osaka station, and tried again.

After a few more trains, I figured out that not all of the Kyoto line trains actually go all the way to Kyoto. I found one that did, got on at 10:16, and made my way to Kyoto...with the train stopping at every station in between. I arrived at Kyoto station at eleven o'clock and was able to catch the tail end of the meditation.
