Fish Market

By Darryl Zurn

Today we wanted to visit the early-morning Tokyo Fish Market called Tsukiji. We woke at the Capsule Hotel at 5 AM to get there for the huge Tuna auctions. The huge amounts of fish are amazing. We almost got run over since it's so crowded with stalls, shouting and running workers, stacks of beautiful fresh fish and these 3-wheel motor carts called "Mighty Cars". Every fish and shellfish you can imagine. The eels were pretty nasty-looking as they were cleaned, but the end result is tasty. Yum.

We went outside the market and some of us had an early fresh-seafood breakfast, but not everyone went or ate there. Zack got a nice t-shirt from the market, then we joined the others at 9 AM back at the hotel.

Then after a Mr. Donut stop, we went to Kappa town to see the plastic food they sell to restaurants. The restaurants use it to show in a window what their food is like. The plastic food all looks just like the real thing, which is the point I guess. It was cool to see.
