Last weekend with hostfamily

By Cheng, Evan, and Taylr

Cheng: everyone woke up very late on sunday. we ate breakfast and i had the first real conversation with my showa host dad. two weeks ago during the first couple of days here in showa, my dad was always working so i didn't get a chance to talk. after that we went to karaoke. i saw robert there and we sang a song together. i was very nervous at first because that was my first time at karaoke, but it was actually pretty fun.

after that we went to a japanese hot spring. it was the most interesting and relaxing experience in japan. mac and nate was also there at the same time. after the hot spring we went shopping, came home and i watched my host brother play the wii.

later on that night we had yakiniku (grilled meat) for dinner and i went to bed at ten that night.

Evan Green: I went to Iigo Wonderland with my host family. It was like a renaissance fair but with Ninja and Samurai. It was really cool. They had a little town that was made to look like an old traditional japanese town. There were guys walking around dressed up as traditional policemen and would pretend to arrest you. I got to go to a show there where I got to see a bunch of Ninjas fight each other. It was really cool.

Taylr Woodby: Yesterday was the first day that we spent all day with our Showa hostfamilies. Since myself and Heather's hostfamilies are good friends, we all went to the mall together. It was a good time, Heather and I walked around and did some last minute shopping, and I had my last convenience store onigiri - very sad. We also spent quite a bit of money at the arcade, but it was all worth it. Afterwards, we were exhausted. We drove Heather back to her hostfamily's house, then I went home and packed.

Right now we're on a bus on our way to Tokyo Narita airport sharing stories from yesterday, taking last minute pictures and reminiscing about the trip. It's bittersweet. I'm excited to go home but at the same time I've grown so fond of Japan - I'll miss it a lot. I plan on coming back as soon as possible.
