We did a great job!!

Sam is working on Daruma

Daruma and Sushi

By Sam and Nate

Today we visited a shop and saw how Daruma dolls are made. Then we had sushi at a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant.

Sam Koehn, reporting: At the daruma shop, we were able to learn about how an authentic daruma is made. Then, we each painted our own. Our daruma ranged from comical (nate's) to artistic, (sam's) but they were all fun to make.

nate dimit - yesterday we went to kaiten sushi. sam and i had an unofficial eating contest, wherein whoever could eat the most plates of sushi wins. i managed to put away 19 plates (38 pieces of sushi) and one plate of dessert. sam threw back 25 plates, but a few of them were desserts and juice boxes. i couldn't even think of eating dinner afterwards, i was so stuffed. both of our host families were very impressed, and sam and i hold the new record for most plates consumed.

[Both are new records by a wide margin! --Zurn-sensei]
