Kyoto free time

By Matt, Jemmy and Allison

Matt: Today I went with Mike, Chris, and Sam. First I lead everyone to the bakery that Jake and I ate at last night. Then we walked to Sangu-sengendo, which is this temple with 1001 Buddha statues that are all different. They also had these statues of the deities. It was really cool. Then we rode a bus to the Ginkakuji, the silver temple. I was a little disspointed but it was realluy great. Then we walked the Tetsugaku Michi, the Philosphers Path. After we headed to the Kinkakuji, the gold temple. It was really pretty, especially with it reflecting in the water. Then we went back to the Kyoto station walked around and got lunch. Then we walked back to the inn. We eventually walked around for an hour. All in all it was a good day.

Ali says she had a fun time in Oosaka. Her host sisters were soo adorable! The last night there she got a SMAP CD from her host parents. That morning Himeka and Yuika were crying! Ali said "Not goodbye, just see you later." Then travel to Kyoto by Shinkansen. Give big backpacks to hotel person, say goodbye to Ongaku Sensei then go see Kyoko. Go to meditation shrine. ali doesn't think anyone could really meditate. After another shrine, kids were in charge of going to Kyomizuodera. The water shrine was pretty. There was a fountain to drink fresh spring water some people drank. After buying some good luck charms, people walk down street with shops, then shopped. Get on bus to Japanese style inn and rest, then go have night on the town!!! Jarrod, James, Katie, Jemmy and Ali go walking about, find restaurant with cool kanji for name decide to go in and eat. Ali thought that the waitress spoke no English but evidently she did, so ... Sensei was there and suprised us. We ate some g!ood food. Walked around some more and just enjoyed the city at night. So in morning, the group split, Mike, Chris and Matt one way, Jarrod, James, Jake, Jemmy, James, Allison and Katie another. Second group go to shrine where Jake lost his ring in the lu. Travel to golden pavillion and thousand kannon (statues to protect Buddha). Lots of food and non-alcoholic drinks inbetween. Then good to inn, get stuff and travel to station. Get on Shinkansen travel to Hiroshima.

Jemmy- It was a hot and tiring day. i wish i had more energy and more time to explore kyoto. since jake had forgotten his precious ring at the temple we went to yesterday, our group had to return to that same temple and ask for it. a few construction workers were there and they just didn't want to let us through, no matter how much jarrod asked them. finally another construction worker came by and let jarrod and jake thru. greaaaaat. after that we pretty much just ran around kyoto.
