Hakuyo H.S in Yokohama and Homestay

By James, Matt Jemmy, Chris and Katie

James: Once again I got another fun host family. At the door I was presented with a new pair of slippers, and then I was shown to my room in the attic, complete with stereo and computer. Host mom can speak English well, so conversing is pretty easy. Last night we played Doraemon mahjong.

Matt: Yesterday I went home with Yokohama host family. They speak english really well because they lived in Washington state for about a year or so. I have a host brother and 2 sisters. I gave them their gifts last night and showed them pictures. Today, Chris gave a speech in front of the teachers. We will also do calligraphy, english, whatever class our host brother/sister has, Japanese history, lunch, and then a science workshop. After school we will do the Tea Ceremony.

Jemmy: My host family in Yokohama is TOTaLLY different from my host family in Showa-machi. I wasn't nervous this morning, but then i got nervous as the day went on. ha-ha-ha. the students here are great; they're very friendly also. For obentoo I had rice, spaghetti, chicken nuggets, and hashbrowns. very americanized. anyway, looking forward to the rest of my stay with the yokohama host family

Chris's new family is wayyyy too nice. I feel like super burden, dude. But whatever, the Ogura's will receive a nice thank you letter. I gave a speech in front of the faculty today and it went oookay. I later gave a speech and answered questions about myself, during my host bro's World History class. My bro is a little shy but I think it'll be okay.

katie- last nite i met my yokohama family for the first time. we played cards, then ate "hamburger" (meatloaf) for supper. this morning we had pizza then left for school. it was raining really hard, so it was really busy on the trains. at school, i attended english class and chemistry. it's weird being in high school again!!
