There is our journal for our time with Yokohama host families.
Michael - I had a really good time this weekend with the Kushinige family. Yesterday we went to Kamakura and visited Hachimangu temple. We saw a traditional Japanese wedding ceremony, which is apparently pretty rare. We prayed at the shrine and bought omikuji on the way out. We did a little shopping and continued on to the Daibutsu. It was a very impressive sight and we were able to go inside it. After that we took a very crowded monorail to Enoshima. After climbing a lot of stairs, we went up into a lighthouse and got an awesome view of the harbor and the ocean. We all had a good time and we were sad to say goodbye today.
Bryan - I had a great time with my Yokohama family. On Friday night, I ate Yakiniku. The restaurant brings out a plate of raw meat, and you fry it on a grill in the middle of the table. I ate tongue, liver, and kidney for the first time. The next day, I went with my host mother to meet Drew and his host mother, because both of our sisters had to do school things. We went on a boat ride, and then walked around Yokohama port. Then, we went to Chinatown for lunch and had ramen. That night, my host father made okonomiyaki with meat and seafood. It was very good. I spent the rest of the night making origami with my host sister and brother.
