Drew and his hostfamily | First train ride |
By everyone
Larry here is slightly terrified, but I'm having a great time so far. It's a bit disorienting, though it's awesome. I think my host family is slightly scared of me, but they are really nice people!
Mike here. My host family is very nice, but that doesn't make it any less scary. I think my Japanese is getting better, though.
Anna-I'm clean again! my host-dad is a painter!
Sarah I feel awkward and I miss my mom but everything is good.
Bryan-my host family is so nice; the mother actually teaches English. breakfast was fantastic!
Drew - in Japan desu. My host family's house is very high tech and they're very friendly. Only problem is I can't figure out how to use the phone cards.
Kevin here, wow. this is interesting. I feel like I don't know any Japanese at all, really. but, it is really fun, my host family is very friendly. talk to you later.
Emily now ... I know I already wrote to you last night so you know about my host family ... tonight I get to meet their 4 grand daughters and their daughter. Maki, who I met last night, is 11 years old and very shy. As soon as her grandparents left the room she asked me if I had a boyfriend, haha. I showed them pictures of my friends from prom and they were so amazed! they kept saying "umeinoyouni" which means "you look like you're famous!" They also asked me about baseball and I did my best to explain about the Milwaukee Brewers. Then I tried to explain about Phil but I didn't know the Japanese word for cousin or for pitcher... so that was interesting. I'm definitely struggling with Japanese but whenever I don't know what to say I just smile and say "hai!". I'm having fun and I will try to call tonight!
Jay- wow...they have a McDonalds Mega Teriyaki Burger. Amazing! Anyway, my introduction to my host family was a dual flying tackle from my two host sisters, who are 5 and 7 years old. My host children aren't shy, that's for sure. For living with a family whom I've only been able to communicate a few keywords, smiles, grunts, and nods, they seem really understanding.
